                      Acquired Infections

Reducing Hospital Acquired Infections is now a huge priority for hospital maintenance personnel Cross contamination starts on the floor. Starting in 2015, the Affordable Care Act requires that hospitals will be ranked according to their hospital acquired infection rates.

Nationwide, HAI have a huge impact on our lives and our economy. The CDC says that approximately 1 out of every 20 hospitalized patients will contract an HAI. The annual additional cost of treating patients with HAI is $28.4 to $45 billion. The CDC estimates that every year, 100,000 people die from HAI.

A study of patients at the University of Maryland Medical Center found that patients who tested positive for Clostridium difficile, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus or vancomycin-resistant enterococci after admission were 60% more likely to be readmitted within 30 days. And, patients who tested positive for the three hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) were 40% more likely to be readmitted within a year.

Reduce slip and fall rates.

The National Floor Safety Institute states that over 60% of nursing home residents fall every year. Falls account for 8 million ER visits every year. Over half of elderly adults who fall and break or fracture a hip never return home.

Falls are also costly from an employer’s perspective. Eighty-five percent of workers comp claims come from slip-and-falls at an annual cost of $70 billion. About a quarter of employees who are out on workers comp claims are off the job for an average of 31 days, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Reducing Hospital Acquired Infections with TIo2 and ph

Simix has taken photo-catalytic titanium dioxide, an element found in all paints and colorants in many foods, nano engineered it to be photo-catalytic so it reacts with interior lighting. This process constantly produces hydrogen peroxide keeping treated areas cleaner and sterile longer.

The delivery system for the nano particles is a potassium silicate coating that maintains a ph above eleven so microbes cannot grow on the coating.

To maintain the floor coating an all purpose non-bleach cleaner was developed to maintain the floor thta will never be stripped again saving time and money
